1. National Tree-Loving Day
Faculty of Dentistry joined in the tree planting activity organized by the Forest Resource Management Office 7 Muang Khon Kaen on the National Tree-Loving Day. Trees planted by the present King Rama the Tenth, the Late King Bhumibol, and all members of the Royal Family were specially tended. This is to show our gratitude to the beloved Kings and Royal Family and the unity of people.
2. Projects under the Royal Initiative
The projects have been involved with community development in 5 points: revitalize natural resources, develop agriculture and community management, promote good health, and develop local education. A good example of projects with great achievement is the development of forest resource management with participation from community. The project applied the conservation concept following the Royal initiative using the management that suits the social characters of the area. The project has been so successful that a group of volunteer forest guards was established to carry on the work of forest protection. This action has made the forest more fertile and have less forest fire; making it a good food source and a learning source about nature.
3. Isan 4.0: Area-Based BCG
Isan 4.0 is a cooperation among 4 universities in the Northeast: Khon Kaen University, Suranaree University of Technology, Sarakham University, and Ubon Ratchathani University using the BCG Model. The model is a form of economic development that emphasis on making balance between economic growth and sustainability of the natural resources. Sustainability of the resources can be maintained by the biodiversity and agricultural productivity of the country. And the production process has to be transformed to those that are more efficient. Apart from the BCG Model, Isan 4.0 integrates all 3 dimensions of the economic development; Bio-economy, Recycle-economy, and Green-economy. This concept fits at least 5 SDGs of the UN which are: Responsible consumption and production, Climate action, Biodiversity conservation, and Partnership for the goals. It also fits with the goals of sufficient Economy which is the heart of Thai economy and social development.
