   February 9, 2022, (Time 13.00 – 16.00 hours) at SMART classroom, 4th Floor, IRDTP for ASEAN building, Khon Kaen University – The APEC-Khon Kaen Meeting 2022 – In Digital Era: AI for Education is a continual cooperation project (SDG 17, OKR32) between Education and Academic Service division, IRPTP for ASEAN, Centre for Research in Mathematics Education (CRME) of Khon Kaen University together with the Office of the Higher Education Commission of Thailand, and Center for Research on International Cooperation in Educational Development (CRICED), University of Tsukuba of Japan for APEC activities and project since 2006. Owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, the APEC-Khon Kaen Meeting 2022 has to be conducted via online Zoom meeting.

   The President of Khon Kaen University Associate Professor Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D. presided over the opening remarks for this meeting. An Honorary Member of Khon Kaen University Council Mr. Supapon Pet-vra, and Vice President for Education and Academic Service as well as Acting Director of IRDTP for ASEAN Associate Professor Dr. Maitree Inprasitha, honored the opening ceremony. As reported by Associate Professor Dr. Maitree Inprasitha, a project titled “A Collaborative Study on Innovations for Teaching and Learning Mathematics in Different Cultures among the APEC Member Economics” (HRD 03/2005) to APEC Human Resources Development Working Group (HRDWG) was started since 2005 as international cooperation in education (SDG4, SDG17, OKR32). Currently, the teaching innovation of Lesson Study has been expanded among the APEC countries, namely Australia, Chile, China, Japan, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, USA, and Vietnam (SDG 17).

   In the fiscal year 2021, the working group in cooperation between Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan, the Office of the Higher Education Commission of Thailand, and the Ministry of Education of Malaysia has implemented Inclusive Mathematics for Sustainability in a Digital Economy (InMside) which is considered a timely response to develop thinking skills such as Computational Thinking and Statistical Thinking in the digital era for the 4th Industrial Revolution (SDG 4, SDG 10, OKR1). Besides, Mr. Supapon Pet-vra presented a special lecture titled “AI for Reducing Inequality in Education” (SDG 10) and Associate Professor Dr. Bundit Thipakorn, Vice-president for the Educational Development King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi gave a talk about computational thinking (SDG 4, OKR1). Finally, Associate Professor Dr. Maitree Inprasitha assisted by Assistant Professor Dr. Narumon Changsri shared their experiences in the concept of adoption in AI for education using “robot” (SDG 4, OKR1).
