International Conference in Mathematics and Science Education in the Post COVID-19 Era: Global Issues Awareness

   The Ministry of Education, through the Office of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, the Office of the Basic Education Commission, and the Institute for the Promotion of Teaching Science and Technology (IPST), collaboratively organizes an international seminar on the topic of "Mathematics and Science Education in the Post-COVID-19 Era: Global Issues Awareness." To celebrate the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana Krom Luang Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra and recognizes her significant contributions to education, science, and culture, as acknowledged by UNESCO. The event will take place from October 30 to November 1, 2023, at the Sirikrit National Convention Center in Bangkok.

   The main objective of the conference is to facilitate international knowledge exchange, particularly in the field of science and mathematics education. The conference aims to provide insights from international scholars who will present information on post-COVID-19 education. This includes perspectives from both Thai and private sector educational researchers, offering a comprehensive view of the changes in education following the COVID-19 pandemic. The conference is structured to address three primary areas of interest: understanding the impact on children with special skills or abilities, examining systemic changes in educational management, and exploring the role of technology in post-COVID-19 education.

   In this instance, the Director of the institute participated as a committee member for the academic, exhibition, and secretarial aspects of the aforementioned event. Additionally, they proposed the names of two Keynote Speakers, namely Prof.Masami Isoda from Tsukuba University, Japan, and Prof.Young-Hoon Kim from the National Institute of Education, Republic of Korea. Both speakers have graciously accepted the invitation to present as guest speakers at the event.

   On this occasion, the Princess Royal and the Princess Debaratana Rajasuda graciously presided over the opening ceremony of the conference. and delivered a special address on the topic "Sustainable Development of Mathematics and Science Education in the Post-COVID-19 Era." The conference featured lectures by international and Thai scholars in both Plenary and Invited lecture sessions. During the Invited lecture sessions, Prof.Young-Hoon Kim from the National Institute of Education, Republic of Korea, presented on the topic "Addressing the Digital Issues for Convergence Education: South Korea’s Challenges of Teacher Education and Training." Additionally, Prof. Masami Isoda from Tsukuba University, Japan, shared information on collaborative educational efforts with Institute for Researcher and Development in Teaching Profession for ASEAN (IRDTP) presentation was titled "How Can We Cultivate Student Agency on OECD Education for 2030? Experience of APES Lesson Study Project by Thailand and Japan" and was conducted in collaboration with Khon Kaen University.
