Online Program for SEAMEO School Network is coordinated by Professor Dr. Masami Isoda (Director of CRICED, University of Tsukuba, Japan), Associate Professor Dr. Maitree Inprasitha (Vice President of Khon Kaen University and Acting Director of IRDTP for ASEAN, Thailand), and Dr. Aida Yap (Director of NISMED, University of Philippines, Philippines). The objective of this online program titled “Teaching Mathematics to Develop Mathematical Thinking as Higher Order Thinking: How do you teach? Why?” is to develop Mathematics Knowledge for Teaching with components of Pedagogical Content Knowledge and Subject Matter Knowledge for all school levels using materials of elementary school mathematics up to Grade 3. Hence, it covers the two SEAMEO priority areas, namely, #5 “Revitalizing Teacher Education” and #7 “Adopting 21st Century Curriculum”.

Read MoreInstitute Research and Development for Teaching Profession for ASEAN, Khon Kaen University is one of the four partners participates in the “Pre-Service Student Teacher Exchange in Southeast Asia (SEA-Teacher Pilot Project)”.
The SEA-Teacher Pilot Project is supported by the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization SEAMEO to “Revitalizing Teacher Education” as one of the seven priority areas to improve the quality in Southeast Asia.
The project is initially led by the University of Tsukuba, Japan together with the other three universities in Southeast Asia, namely IRDTP, Khon Kaen University of Thailand, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia of Indonesia, and Central Luzon State University of the Philippines.
The project aims to provide the opportunity for pre-service student teachers from the four universities to do their practicum or teaching experiences in schools of other countries in Southeast Asia.
The duration is for one month and is based on the mechanism of cost-sharing basis. Students’ roles and responsibilities are assigned weekly during the one-month period.
Moreover, the host universities will provide mentors to supervise and monitor the students throughout the practicum period.

The Center for Research in Mathematics Education (CRME), Khon Kaen University, in collaboration with the University of Tsukuba, Japan, led the APEC Lesson Study Project (2005–2018) from Thailand’s perspective. Initiated in 2005 under Thailand’s Ministry of Education, the project proposed international cooperation on teaching innovations in mathematics across APEC member economies. With support from CRICED, University of Tsukuba, and later Japan’s Ministry of Education, CRME and CRICED jointly implemented four series of APEC projects to promote lesson study and teaching innovation.
