KKU Officially Recognized as a UNESCO UNITWIN Partner for Advancing Quality Teacher Education.

August 4-6, 2025

Khon Kaen University, through the Institute for Research and Development in Teaching Profession for ASEAN, participated in The 10th UNESCO UNITWIN International Conference on Quality Teacher Education, held from August 4–6, 2025, at Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI), Indonesia. The conference was organized under the theme:
“The Roles of Teacher Education in Preparing Teachers’ Competencies to Teach Sustainability Issues.”

KKU was represented by:
Mr. Uk Inprasitha, an expert in teacher professional development and educational personnel, from the Institute for Research and Development in Teaching Profession for ASEAN
Dr. Benjaporn Laowongsee, lecturer in Thai Language Education, Department of Language Education, Faculty of Education

This international academic conference served as a platform for collaboration among member universities under the UNESCO UNITWIN: Cooperation Programme for Quality Teacher Education. Participating institutions included:
1. Korea National University of Education (KNUE), Republic of Korea.
2. Souphanouvong University, Laos
3. University of Education, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, Vietnam
4. Indonesia University of Education, Indonesia
5. University of the Philippines (UP), Quezon City, Philippines
6. Mahidol University Kanchanaburi Campus (MUKA), Kanchanaburi, Thailand
7. KhonKaen University, Thailand

The event featured keynote lectures, presentations, and group discussions on key issues in teacher education such as the integration of AI in teaching, STEM/STEAM-based learning, digital competencies of teachers, and developing capacities for sustainability education.

In addition, during the event, network member universities—including Khon Kaen University—were formally awarded a Certificate of Official Partnership under the UNESCO UNITWIN Network for Quality Teacher Education. This recognition represents a collaborative effort supported by UNESCO , in partnership with the Korea National University of Education (KNUE) and the Ministry of Education, Republic of Korea.

This official recognition highlights KKU’s strong role in advancing teacher education across the ASEAN region, particularly in building teachers’ competencies to deliver quality education on sustainability and contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
