On February 22-23, 2025, the Institute for Research and Development in Teaching Profession for ASEAN (IRDTP), Khon Kaen University (KKU), organized a workshop on the topic "The Magic of Picture Books in Children's Learning." This workshop provided an opportunity for teachers, students, and interested individuals to learn and practice using picture books in instruction, focusing on developing reading skills, critical thinking, imagination, and problem-solving abilities in children, which are essential skills in the 21st century.
The event featured a welcome address by Assistant Professor Dr. Phongthanat Sae-joo, Director of the Institute for Research and Development in Teaching Profession for ASEAN, Khon Kaen University, reflecting that "The Institute is an organization committed to teacher professional development. We recognize that education in the present era must adapt to align with the concept of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This activity is therefore designed to enable teachers to apply knowledge in practice to develop children's reading and thinking skills, which are fundamental to lifelong learning."
This project also addresses Khon Kaen University's strategies in "Internationalization" and "Societal Contribution" through the development of collaborative networks between universities and schools, as well as raising the quality of education to be internationally recognized."
This activity was honored by Dr. Rungrong Sommitr, Chairperson of the Early Childhood Education Program, Faculty of Education, Srinakharinwirot University; Assistant Professor Dr. Ruj Luecha Faculty of Education, Srinakharinwirot University; Dr. Thammachota Eiamtadsana, Faculty of Education, Srinakharinwirot University; Professor Rapeepan Pattanawech, Children's Book Editor; and Teacher Abhisid Daengnongpaen, Expert Teacher, Ban Ta Choi Nong Sa School, Roi Et Province, who served as instructors in the workshop throughout the two days, imparting knowledge and skills in the professional use of picture books.
This activity attracted 60 registered participants, including teachers, students, and interested individuals.
