Institute for Research and Development in Teaching Profession for ASEAN (IRDTP) Khon Kaen University held a workshop on March 21, 2026, focused on developing essential skills for Japanese language instructors in the age of artificial intelligence. The event, opened by IRDTP KKU Director Asst. Prof. Dr. Phongthanat Sae-joo, centered on designing lessons that enhance student potential within an AI-driven learning environment.
The workshop aimed to equip Japanese language teachers with the knowledge and skills to effectively use AI technology, aligning with Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4) for quality and inclusive education. It also sought to foster a national network among secondary school Japanese language educators.
The event featured a special lecture by Associate Professor Dr. Hideaki Ito from the University of Tsukuba, Japan, on "Designing Japanese Language Lessons that Enhance Learners' Potential in a Learning Environment in the Era of Artificial Intelligence." Additionally, a practical workshop was conducted on using specialized fonts to create digital Japanese learning materials, led by an expert from the Morisawa font company. The workshop provided attendees with practical knowledge to create innovative teaching methods for their classrooms, tailored to the needs of digital-era learners. The event also facilitated professional networking, aiming to sustainably elevate the quality of Japanese language instruction in schools across the country.
