IRDTP-KKU Honored with First Runner-Up in Best Practice for UNESCO UNITWIN Initiative

Congratulations to Institute for Research and Development in Teaching Profession for ASEAN, Khon Kaen University for winning the First Runner-Up award in the Khon Kaen University Best Practice Project for Fiscal Year 2025, within the Humanities and Social Sciences category. The award was given for their project titled "Project for Educational Quality Development in the ASEAN Region under the UNESCO UNITWIN Program, Institute for Research and Development in Professional Teaching for ASEAN." Assistant Professor Dr. Phongthanat Sae-joo, Director of IRDTP, led the project, with a working committee comprising Assistant Professor Dr. Jiradawan Hantula, Assistant Professor Dr. Watchara Suyara, and Miss. Apinya Nimmongkon.

Khon Kaen University held the award ceremony on July 1, 2025, at the Sarasin Meeting Room, Sirikunakorn Building, Office of the President, Khon Kaen University. Associate Professor Dr. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, President of Khon Kaen University, and the executive board graciously presented the awards

Representatives from IRDTP attended the ceremony to receive the award, led by Assistant Professor Dr. Sakowduen Sathum, Deputy Director and Acting Director of IRDTP, along with Assistant Professor Dr. Jiradawan Hantula, Dr. Sunti Bunlang, and Miss. Apinya Nimmongkon.

The project's objectives are to establish a collaborative network for improving teaching and learning quality and developing the teaching profession both domestically and internationally (Sustainable Development Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals), as well as to promote the development of quality teacher education to achieve sustainable educational goals (Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education).

This aligns with IRDTP mission and Khon Kaen University's strategic implementation, specifically:
1. Strategic Issue 2: Research Transformation
2. Strategic Issue 4: Academic Services for Societal Contributions
3. Strategic Issue 9: Driving the University Towards Internationalization
The project is a collaboration with Korea National University of Education (KNUE) (South Korea) and has received continuous support from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in France.

This international collaboration involves six educational institutions from five countries working together to drive the project forward:
1. Khon Kaen University, Thailand
2. Souphanouvong University, Lao People's Democratic Republic
3. University of Education, Vietnam National University, Vietnam
4. Indonesia University of Education, Indonesia
5. Mahidol University, Kanchanaburi Campus, Thailand
6. University of the Philippines, Philippines
The aim is to achieve sustainable development for communities and society, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of UNESCO.
