Institute for Research and Development in Teaching Profession for ASEAN holds Workshop for Mathematical
Thinking and Robots to exchange academic knowledge with administrators of schools in Khon Kaen Primary
Educational Service Area Office 1 including interested people
On September 21, 2019 at the meeting room 201 of Institute for Research and Development in Teaching
Profession for ASEAN, Khon Kaen University, Workshop for Mathematical Thinking and Robots was organized by
Institute for Research and Development in Teaching Profession for ASEAN.
At 9 a.m., it was an honor to have Asst. Prof. Nattapat Arnanteerakul, Assistant to the President for
Education of Khon Kaen University, presiding over and giving welcome speech to all participants attending in
Workshop for Mathematical Thinking and Robots. This project was developed from the MOU between Institute
for Research and Development in Teaching Profession for ASEAN and schools in Khon Kaen Primary Educational
Service Area Office 1 with an objective to improve mathematical lesson by employing Lesson Study and Open
Approach.
This workshop was accomplished by the collaboration between Center for Research on International
Cooperation in Educational Development (CRICED), University of Tsukuba, Japan, and Institute for Research
and Development in Teaching Profession for ASEAN. It was also an honor to have Professor Masami Isoda – a
mathematical expert from University of Tsukuba, Japan, and a coordinator for Khon Kaen University and
University of Tsukuba – giving a special talk and leading the workshop on Mathematical Thinking and Robot.
The objectives of this workshop were 1) to exchange knowledge with experts from foreign country; 2) to
support and improve teaching profession in Thailand; and 3) to create network of mathematical teaching,
learning, research, and profession.
There were Workshop for Mathematical Thinking and Robots and the special talk on “AI for Education
Transform in the 4th industrial Revolution” in the afternoon by Professor Masami Isoda – a mathematical expert
from University of Tsukuba, Japan. Over 70 participants of this workshop were administrators of schools in Khon
Kaen Primary Educational Service Area Office 1, students from Faculty of Education, and interested people.
