November 16-17, 2019 – Khon Kaen University by ASEAN Teacher Profession Research and Development
Institute held a workshop for educational personnel on the Lesson Study and the Open Approach. The
workshop was aimed at continuously upgrade educational quality and was under the School and Teacher
Development Project which was supported by the Educational Equality Funding. The workshop was held at the
cafeteria of Khon Kaen University Demonstration School and ASEAN Teacher Profession Research and
Development Institute.
November 16, 2019 – The opening ceremony was held which was honored to have Assoc. Prof. Piansak
Phakdee, Vice President for Student Development and Nongkhai Campus presiding over and Assoc. Prof. Dr.
Maitree Intaraprasith, Vice President for Education and Acting Director of ASEAN Teacher Profession Research
and Development Institute conveying the reporting speech.
Assoc. Prof. Piansak Phakdee said, “In April 2019, Khon Kaen University was ranked the first of Thailand
as the university with the greatest impact in the country over human kind according to the UN’s Sustainable
Development Goals, with the highest score in the promotion of quality education for the citizens at all age
levels, the reduction of income gaps both domestically and internationally, and the integration of work will all
regions all over the world for sustainable development. This workshop which is aimed at continuous upgrading
of education quality is very important as it shows that KKU sees the importance of quality education promotion
and support of coordination with all sectors according to SDGs.”
At 09:30-12:00 hrs, there was a lecture on Lesson Study and Open Approach for quality education
upgrading by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Maitree Intaraprasith. The afternoon session starting at 13:00 hrs featured an
activity on introduction of knowledge management used in the Open Classroom that follows the Lesson Study
and Open Approach by 22 3rd graders from Ban Nonmuang School and Teacher Kraiwut Thepprasit, a teacher
from Ban Nonmuang School, Khon Kaen; and at 16:00 hr., there was a conclusion of the concept obtained
from the open class activity.
On November 17, 2019 at 09:00 hrs, there was a group meeting which was divided into 3 small groups
to plan for project implementation, presentation of the plan and details of the project and implementation.
The workshop was participated by 164 principals and teachers under the project as well as educational
supervisors and university teachers from network universities.
