Institute for Research and Development in Teaching Profession for ASEAN held 2019 Camp for Advanced Thinking Skill in Mathematics on October 2-4, 2019 at Banmuang School, Ban Thum Sub-district, Khon Kaen


 Institute for Research and Development in Teaching Profession for ASEAN, and the advanced thinking skill in Mathematics project for students in the Northeast, Mathematics Department of Faculty of Education, and Mathematics Study Research Center of Khon Kaen University scheduled the 2019 camp on October 4-6, 2019 at Banmuang School, Ban Thum Sub-district, Muang District, Khon Kaen.

 October 4, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. – Dr. Phumipat Ruanglae, Director of Office of Primary Education Service Khon Kaen Area 1 presided over the opening ceremony for the 2019 camp to develop advanced thinking skill in Mathematics. Banmuang School, Ban Thum Sub-district, Muang District, Khon Kaen co-hosted the camp this year

 The target group of the camp is the 6 and 7 graders. The camp aims to train a group of undergraduate, graduate and PhD students from KKU who were the camp trainers to work together as a network at this learning community. They designed the activities to train pupils to become disciplined, work together in a society and develop advanced thinking skills in all dimensions, both in and outside the classroom. The mathematics activities promoted the pupils’ learning process through problem solution as a group, in which the pupils practiced thinking analytically and creatively. The pupils were exposed to mathematics in different aspects different from what they learned in their class. This helped to develop the pupils’ attitudes towards mathematics learning. Other activities included practices of other required traits such as team building from rope jumping, training disciplines from camp rules, building common responsibilities, etc. The activities were carried out by students of Mathematics Study program of Faculty of Education, Khon Kaen University who also practiced working in team among themselves and with the school teachers to develop pupils in all dimensions.

 The event was participated by 437 people from 34 schools including school administrators, teachers and from the faculty including camp supervisors, lecturers and 1st to 4th year students of Mathematics Study program of Faculty of Education, Khon Kaen University.
